I have read on many blogs about internet in Bangladesh. Some of them use Grameen Phone internet. I too used to use Gp internet. I used to use their P2 service. I must say in terms of speed I did got good speed. On average it was about 140-180 kilo bits per second. But it has disconnection problems. So I coudn't download big files from sites which don't allow resume. So finally i gave gp up.
Many people use Citycell Zoom. Almost all of them said that it gives constant 128-144 kbps, but the usage limit was a headache. But they have unlimited package which costs 1,725 taka per month. They also have Zoom Ultra which is available in selected, rich, parts of Dhaka. They say its speed is upto 512 kbps, but as far as I heard its actually 200-256 kbps, but its very very costly.
Some of us use aktel which has the best value based package. Some use banglalink and some use teletalk. Very few people actually use Warid.
National Phone is also a good choice for internet. So is Peoples Tell and Dhaka Phone. But speed may be less then gp and zoom.
Many heavy downloader like me use broadband. Mainly cause its stable not because its fast. Gp, zoom, aktel and other wireless internet service providers have disconnection problems which is far far less in broadband. But speed is also not good. I have a broadband line which costs 1,300 taka per month and i get over 25 kBps on average whole day. I download a lot of movies so i need broadband but I thought that when wimax will start I'll finally get good speed but as far as i heard it won't be very fast as both Banglalion and Qubee will start of with 16kBps speed which is heartbreaking.
